As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve been looking over the latest industry reports (including the 15th edition Barbour ABI Residential Window Coverings study) and chatting to customers across Droitwich, Worcester, Bromsgrove and the villages to find out the biggest trends heading our way in 2026 – and, more importantly, thinking about how we can help you get ahead of them without breaking the bank.
Shutter trends in 2026
1. Energy saving shutters are the new luxury blinds
With energy bills still increasing, the Barbour ABI report predicts the fastest-growing segment in 2026 will be products that genuinely keep heat in (and summer sun out). Plantation shutters are great for this – they can reduce heat loss through windows by up to 28%, compared to around 13% for standard roller blinds.
Installing a window covering that lasts for 10 years (or more!) rather than curtains or blinds that need replacing every few years is also a great option for homeowners hoping to reduce their carbon footprint.
2. Smart, motorised shutters for every home
Motorised blinds and shutters are no longer just for million-pound new-builds, and we’re going to have them available soon! The report forecasts a 10-15% jump in smart window coverings next year, but here’s the bit the big nationals don’t shout about: you don’t need to spend £2,000 per window.
Motorised shutters can be installed by us for a very reasonable cost compared to quotes from national competitors. And because we’re local, if a battery ever needs swapping, we’re round in a day with no call-centre run-around.
3. Warm, earthy toned shutters are taking over
Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year might be grabbing headlines, but in real Droitwich homes we’re seeing mocha, warm walnut, soft sage and muted terracotta everywhere. Our stained hardwood and premium faux-wood ranges are a perfect match for customers wanting to move away from bright, sleek white and towards the warm, cosy trends of 2026 home decor.
4. Layering shutters with other window coverings
One of the biggest shifts the Barbour report highlights is “layering” – combining shutters with blackout blinds or insect screens for the ultimate in light control, privacy and summer comfort. Perfect for those big Victorian bays in Ombersley Road or the new builds out at Copcut Rise.
Whether you’re after full-height shutters for the front of the house, café-style for the kitchen, or a bathroom shutter to increase privacy in your bathroom, you can count on us to provide a reliable and friendly service. We’ll bring the samples to you, measure up for free, and give you an honest quote – no hard sell, ever. Here’s to warmer, quieter, more beautiful Worcestershire homes in 2026!
